Suggested Action Plan ![]()
Why should I security mark my projectors? Projector thefts from schools have been all too frequent, and often involve damage to the building in addition to the loss of the projector. The idea of "making orange projectors for education only" was a good one. Unfortunately, even most teachers we have spoken to were unaware what the orange colour meant. If most teachers were unaware, we are not optimistic about the number of projector thieves who will have taken the trouble to consult the sales literature! Our "Don't get caught orange-handed" campaign is designed to raise the profile of the idea by putting the message where it will be most useful - on the door of every building that a thief may consider breaking in through. Though it is quite possible that a thief may miss seeing the poster, our series of well-illustrated cartoons are designed to get the message through to all young people in the local community - and parents - and anyone surveying the school during an open-day or evening - so everyone knows that anyone seeing an orange projector outside a school will instantly aware that it has been stolen - as sure a message as the orange dripping off the hands of the culprits in our cartoons. The posters are deliberately worded "Projectors in this building are orange for education only" so that you can use them comfortably whether only one or every projector in your school building is orange. However, the message is without doubt most effective if every projector in your school is orange. The final piece in the security jigsaw is our orange security paint - providing obvious marking and with a security lacquer to make it more difficult to remove. Our posters are screen-printed to make the colours as fade-resistant as practicable, with a permanent adhesive on the fronts so that putting them on doors or windows is as efficient a task as possible. The aim is not only to reduce the threat of having projectors stolen but also to reduce the probability of having the school broken into - and the resulting damage and waste of school staff time dealing with the problems caused by the break-in. If you are interested in upgrading projector mounts to ones like the one shown in our literature, we have a long-standing relationship with our manufacturer and they designed this model for us, to combine ease of maintenance with visible deterrent.
